Teachers play a major role in the lives of countless students each day. The classroom introduces the potential to instill a love of learning, confidence and the desire to succeed. In order to be a good teacher, he or she most contain certain positive qualities. One of the most important qualities in a teacher is their passion and love for what they do. When a teacher is extremely interested in the subject it makes the class that much better. If a teacher were to dislike the subject they are teaching, the class would be boring and learning would not be fun. Also, when teachers share interesting facts and relate information to the students, learning can be fun. Teachers should be able to answer questions to rhe fullest even when questions are off topic. When questions tend to be off topic, the teacher should be able to connect it in same way to what is being discussed. It is also important that teachers encourage learning on a personal level. Good teachers care for their students and encourage them to succeed. By having support from a teacher and having a little push along the way, it will make a big different for the student.
While I have had many teachers with several positive qualities, I have had other teachers that frustrated me. The fact that teachers are out of touch with their students can cause frustration. It is so much better when you walk into the classroom and are greeted with a warm welcome. It is also better when a teacher stays in touch with their students and converses with them so they are able to know their students. Also, teachers who pile up on tests and other assignments without taking the time to think about how much effort they require from the students also causes frustration. When a teacher is flexible with setting deadlines and due dates, things are much easier for the student. It also frustrates me when teachers do not hand back corrected assignments or tests within a week or so. This frustrates me because I like to see what I need to work on to strengthen my learning environment in that class. I know that it is sometimes hard for teachers because they have several other classes but by doing this the students can look and learn from their mistakes and then can in return improve on their next assignments. Overall, it is important for teachers to be engaged and happy with educating their students.
